What is it?

I made a donation to Make-A-Wish Foundation and they posted "BB *NONPROFIT(PENDING) 866-992-3374 CA" to my account. Hope this helps!

I just realized I had the same charge & Googled to see what it could be. Took my son to the local children's museum. So, that was the charge :)

Also the Leonardo which is a art museum in SLC

I went to the Museum of the Moving Image in New York City and it posted as this "BB *Nonprofit(pending)" in California. Weird name and location, but was the exact same amount as the 2 museum admissions ($21)

It's not necessarily fraud. If you have donated or visited a non-profit musuem etc recently, then it could be that. We went to the Neon Musuem in Vegas and it came out of my account as that.

BB seems to be a legitimate company. However, I did get a fraudulent charge from them. It turns out that they process charges made to other campanies. If you have a question you can call them.

THIS CHARGE IS OK and NOT A SCAM. I was checking my charges on my credit card and saw a charge for $13.95 identified as "BB NONPROFIT(PENDING)SAN DIEGO CA"....this charge is from THE MOB MUSEUM in Las Vegas that we visited. Just wish they would tell you that the charge is going to appear as "BB NONPROFIT(PENDING)SAN DIEGO CA" to save us time questioning a charge.

I thought my charge for $18 to BB Profit may be fraud, but it turns out that the Nevada Museum of Modern Art uses this company for credit card charges for admission. So it was legitimate. I would suggest thinking whether you have been to a museum recently.

Tickets to the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology (in Philly) will also show up as "BB Nonprofit" ... took me a while to figure that out.

I had the same problem...but mine came up as BLK*NONPROFIT. I disputed the charge and closed my card so they couldn't get anymore money. Be wary of this company!

BB is a provider of nonprofit software and services https://www.blackbaud.com/

For me, anyway, it turns out it was a legitimate charge to the Reid Park Zoo in Tucson, AZ, for the amount and the date it said for CHECKCARD BB *NONPROFIT(PEN SAN DIEGO CA on my bank's website. Someone posted about the same situation for the same place above, which confirmed it for me. So far, it's not a scam, but I will keep an eye out, just in case. I'm not saying people AREN'T also getting scammed by a similar title, but it was legitimate in my case.

Visited Children's Museum, Wilmington, NC

I was worried about this at first but then I realized I had bought tickets online for the New York Historical Society's Armory at 100 Show, so it's fine. I swear I'm a real person.

I made a monthly donation to a christian radio station and they had "BB" on my bank statement.

When my monthly donation to my niece's year-long experience with MISSION YEAR shows up on my statement, it shows up as BLKNONPROFIT. Eventually it changes to BLKMISSIONYEAR.

Museum of Science and History, Jacksonville, Florida (MOSH) can be added to the list.

My donation to my local NPR station showed up like this.

Legit, if weird. Used by Mystic Seaport, in CT, for event bookings. (I spoke to them and they confirmed this.) However, my credit card company flagged BB for possible fraud ... so a new credit card is in the mail. It would seem logical that BB (BlackBaud) would clarify & clear its status with CC companies. Since that hasn't happened, I suspect there's at least potential for fraud even though in some (most?) cases the charges are legitimate.

EdVenture Childrens Museum in Columbia, SC

I thought my MC was hacked into.......couldn't understand a charge for $66 which was listed as a non-profit donation - such an odd number for a donation amount. Turns out, after much research, this charge was for 3 adult tickets to the Buffalo Science Museum in Buffalo, NY. I didn't view this as a "contribution" to a nonprofit organization, but I guess it is! Confusing that a purchase in Buffalo, NY would be processed in California!

Strong National Museum of Play- Rochester, NY. Purchased the museum membership for another family as a holiday gift. It showed up as BLK*NONPROFIT. I didn't realize that until I Googled it and read these posts.

Mine was to the Alberta Cancer Foundation which must use this organization to process their online donations

If the charge shows up as "Bb Lustgarten Found", it is legitimate. We supported a family by making a donation to the Pancreatic Cancer Research Foundation. They must be using the Blackbaud payment process. I approved payment.

Charge was from the Discovery Museum in Reno NV. It is a legitimate charge for us. I wasn't sure what it was so I looked it up here. I saw all the museum posts and then remembered we had purchased there. Going to keep monitoring the bank account though.

I had same charge on my account and it was for a purchase at Fontenelle Forest in Omaha. Their online ticketing is run by BlackBaud out of San Diego. Did concern me when I first saw it thought!

The childrens museum of the upstate in greenville s.c. uses them to process credit cards no scam here.

For us, this was a legitimate charge: BLKNONPROFIT. They process charitable donations for various organizations, so even though I didn't recognize BLKNONPROFIT, my son said that he had indeed donated $25 to Polar Bear Plunge for a fundraiser.

Also shows up for the Tenement Museum in NYC - not a fraudulent charge.

Purchased an educational seminar from PA Horticultural Society. Totally legit. Thanks for helping me figure it out. Seemed like a scam at first.

I never agreed to donating any money. However Chase Bank sent me an email mesage about this charge as fraud.

I had my card suspended and when looked into my account found around $550 pending to WESTERN UNION. I had not authorised this transaction. Rang my bank ST George and cancelled my card - went through to the fraud department and found that a day after that transaction had been made- I had 2 transactions that failed to BB NONPROFIT. Luckily my card had been suspended and they did not get it. There is a link here between the two and there are way too many comments on here trying to legitimise it! IT IS A SCAM!!!! CANCEL YOUR CARD IMMEDIATELY!!!....

I made a legitimate donation of $50 to a charity. One week later another charge of $580 showed up on my credit card from BB "nonprofit" for $580 that was fraudulent. Had to cancel my credit card and get a new one. .

I am in South Africa and was scammed by the same company--had to replace my credit card!!!!!

This charge was also for the Robbie House tour by Frank Lloyd Wright, in Chicago

CHKCARDBB *NONPROFIT(PENDING)SAN DIEGO CA ... bank said my card was swiped yesterday. I have my card with me and never left the house.

Yes, it is scam. Paid a donation to an organization that deducted the money and a couple days later I have the same amount on my credit card from bb nonprofit. Not sure how they know that I made the donation in that amount but I canceled my card.

Was notified by my bank via email that this is fraud. I never and would not use my debit account for any purpose except for receiving direct deposits from my employer. Several weeks ago I noticed weird charges from California, but they never posted because merchants are required to submit evidence that real transactions have been made. Two charges from BB *NONPROFIT(PENDING) San Diego CA were detected and blocked, account suspended, and after confirming with my account rep at Bank of America, closed the account and am getting a new card.

I never go to museums or make charitable donations as most are scams. The only thing I donate to is Red Cross and the like via phone so that they cannot get my important numbers. Anything fraudulent can be reversed anyway.

If you use a Credit Card for online purchases, check the online banking section of your banks secure website. There is a temporary credit card number generator which links to your real credit card. You input the amount you owe the merchant and real Visa/Mastercard/Discover/American Express card number is generated. If they attempt to use it for more then they can't.

The overwhelming majority of these posts are complaints. We know it's fraud. If they are legit charges there is no need for you to defend the transactions online unless you are the scammers, in which case your on somebody's radar already. Your messed up mindset of taking other people's hard earned money for yourself is shameful. Which, I know you can't feel remorse for your actions, so I hope that law enforcement can't give you something I can't. Incarceration. AND because you're doing this online, you now fall under the Commerce Department's jurisdiction. I have no pity for you at all, you petty thieves.

I made a donation to the Barnes Museum in Philadelphia. It came through as this charge. It would really help if we were told at the time so we would not panic!

Legit. I paid a $15 parking fee for the J.Paul Getty Museum in Malibu, CA. The charge posted to my account under this heading.

I made a donation online to a charity I've been donating to for year. The $25 charge showed on my credit card correctly to the charity. The next day a new charge for $2250 showed on my credit card to BLKnonprofit.!!!! thank goodness my credit card co notified me immediately.

Can you help? What is this charge?
