Like the others on this forum, we had an unexplained charge show up in our checking account (with Ally Bank). I contacted the bank and they immediately deactivated the card and issued another. They suggested I contact the company with which the fraudulent purchase was made.
Backcountry.com looks like a very legit website. At the bottom of the page, it was easy to initiate a chat with a service representative. After asking for the last four digits of the card number, as well as the amount and date of the purchase, they were able to confirm the item and the shipping address (Leverett, MA), which showed conclusively that it was fraudulent. They promised to refer the matter to their fraud department. I'm hopeful the matter will be resolved and a refund issued soon.
