Parking charge for a garage in Downtown Scranton, PA.

The below appeared on my online debit card account as a charge DBT CRD xxx 09/29/17 xxxxxxx COMMUNITY DEVELOPM NEW YORK
NY Card # *xxxx first words to myself "fraud". I googled, ended up at whatsthatcharge.com (this site) and it explained it to me. I stayed at a hotel last night that uses a "public" parking garage in Scranton PA thus the confusion showing the charge of a New York instead of Pennsylvania notation concerned me. But I did use a garage in PA on this date.

This would be better served if it described on my statement as described in my first sentence. I originally thought this is some kind of fee for "who knows what" in NY. This could be better described.

Thank you for this, I also received this charge for parking at a hotel parking garage, in Erie PA.

Had the same issue a month or so ago, but from a parking meter in Scranton, where we used credit card. We reported as fraud for which the only "fix" from BoA was to cancel card (and wait for the replacement to arrive). It happened again last week but we declined cancelling the card and planned to watch the account. For kicks I Googled the merchant on statement and found this site. Amazing that the bank's Fraud department had no ability to provide a solution other than cancellation of the card again. Thanks for resolving our difficulty.

It's for Scranton street parking, probably owned by a NY company. I was confused to but the charges matched exactly.

$6.00 to park for less than an hour, plus what it cost in the store, what a friggin rip-off

The description on my Chase account listed: "Community Development PR" - I had no idea with these charges were for until I clicked on this site; even though my description did not list New York, I see many folks reporting it was for downtown Scranton. I did part a few times and plugged the meter in Scranton. I still don't know what the PR is for, no doubt part of the issue could be that Chase cuts off the description length.
