STORE PURCHASE GNS AMERICAN EXPRESS

This charge happens when Bluebird/AMEX has system issues and is basically a fake double charge. Although it does put that dollar amount on hold, and that can cause some issues with available funds, it's not going to actually take the money from the account. This same thing happened to me this past weekend so I called Bluebird and the hold amount has already been dropped/released.

They told me that on the first of July they had a 50 minute "outage." This means that they were hacked and any purchase that was made durring or around that time was doubled or more by a hacker. They are working to cancel all of these fake charges or refund them to you. It will take anywhere from 15 minutes to 48 hours to be removed from your account. Two of the four charges I spotted this morning have already been removed from my account and it has only been 3 hours. Please be patient with them and understand that they had no control over what happened.

It appears these GNS charges appear after there has been a hold on funds by mistake of AMEX, this way they can say that is reason your funds were on hold because of that charge and it clears them of holding what appears to be lots of customers cash without actual cause. I wouldnt doubt they are raising lots of free cash off our money from the interest earned off our held money. If you think about say 10,000 customers have $100 held for a couple of days thats lots of interest earned daily for them. I believe it is a corporate scam at a high level because it has happened to me twice with different companies and each time they both blame each other for the issue and they make it increasingly hard to reach anyone to rectify the problem

Gns charge made it so I now have a negative balance. This needs to be fix!! Asap. Also, I can't use my phone to call AE. They had me on hold for 30mins. Then, it hung up with a beep beep beep. It did that Everytime I called. I'm pist!!! Cause now I see who the scammers r......put my money back on.

I also was charged $125 TWICE by GNS American Express. One of the 125 has gone off and if the other isnt off by this afternoon I'll be calling. I hate the new automated voice calling tho. It doesn't even have my option. Available. Its like they dont want to help is anymore.

Went to Walmart 7-1-2018 spent 73.26 and apparently I got the same as yall.. 73.26 on hold for GNS, Walmarts went thru fast ... WTF

I had the same thing happen to me on the 1st of July! This is absolutely ridiculous! 100.00 dollars on hold from gns American Express! I never authorized this! I need my damn money that's all I have left til Friday!

Can a pre paid card even become in a negative balance ? I think a whole bunch of us got scammed. How dirty !!!

Hey everyone, don't panic. I was thinking this was fraud for the longest time.

I spoke to serve after waiting for almost 40 minutes. I had $171 charged from my account from GNS american express. This actually put my account in the negitives which is inconcvienent as I keep all my money in my reserve. When talking to serve they let me know that they were able to see where the charge actually came from and it was from a rental car company.

My first instinct was initially correct from where the charge came from. When I booked my first car the charge didn't go through right away, which it should have. It would have been exactly $171.

Serve said the merchant didn't collect the $171 which explains why it's not in their name, and that I would have the charge reversed by saturday ( 3 days )..

I will update then. Be patient people and everything will be alright. :)

I received a charge on my American Express Serve Card for $25.00 And it said Gns American Express Hold on 07/012018. And on 07/02/2018. The Transaction was completed. And now it said Walmart Store. I don't even use that card at Walmart. I was on hold for 1hr 45 to speak to Representatives.And she was acting like it was no big deal. She said my finds should be back on in 72 hrs. Please everyone check your account daily.. Their is a Big Scam going on. Please stay on top of it

Went to Dollartree. They had system outage. Had to wait 20 min. to pay for items . Purchase charge $17.57 completed June 30, 2018. July 2, 2018, same amount appeared on card as a hold for Store Purchase GNS American Express. Called AMEX says having problems with system outages will be released in 72 hours. Will update after 72 hours.

I checked my account today and saw a charge for Amex store purchase GNS for an amount of $41.64. On June 30th I went to my local supermarket and my purchase was $41.64. I noticed it took several days to show on my account. Usually, it shows up on my account right away. This time, it took until monday to post, I thought it kind of odd. I called the number on the back of the card and was put on hold for 45 minutes until it just hung up on me or they are dumping calls. I never had a problem with this card before, but when it comes to my hard earned money that's one problem too many.

Been on hold with Amex/bluebird for at least close to 30 mins. With the stuff that has been reported I hope that they resolve the issue immediately.

They took money out of my savings on this card to pay for the double charge that shows store purchase gns American Express. I need it back. My car is in the shop and I can't get it out now.

It seems that this happened in 2017 and 2016. With the millions of customers they have they could raise funds in 24 - 48 hours from the interest. I smell a BIG ASS RAT... can we say class action lawsuit!

It's at it again. Two charges the same as my last, $6.22 from Chick Fil A, showing as GNS Amex.

I called and it said the wait was 10 minutes for a rep. When I finally spoke to a man with broken English, all he could say was the same thing I could see & to wait a week for it to be removed. Acted like they were legit charges.

After reading the comments, I'm thankful my last purchase was small instead of $100+ they're duplicating. :-\

I saw a charge to Store Purchase GNS American Express on my statement. After calling I was first told this was a valid charge from Amazon. I disputed that and insisted on having the hold removed. Then I was told it was a 'glitch'. Now I'm told it will be lifted after 48 hours. This is fraud and a scam as far as I'm concerned.

Same thing happened to me as most of you. Banks were closed last Saturday so I deposited a paycheck onto AmEx Bluebird card. Used it 2x for small amounts. Third place declined x3. Went to ATM. Also declined. Called Customer Service, was told system error, would be fixed in a few hours. Waited & returned to atm. Small amount cleared. Monday morning receive email account is overdrawn. Go online & look at account, 3 charges, 1 Sunday & 2 Monday, all for $21.74 each, GNS American Express. Call Customer Service again. Sent me to fraud department. Said they would open investigation but must send me new card. 24 hours later & charges are dropped & account is vack to normal but I can't access the funds because they cancelled my card & I'm still awaiting a new one. Received email this morning that it's been shipped. Very disappointed & frustrated with AmEx. I needed this money & I worked my butt off for it.

June 30th I made a purchase for 13.94. That purchased cleared but then another charge from Store Purchase GNS American Express appeared two days later.

It disappeared on the 2nd of July but reappeared later that day.

I called the the dude was acting like I made this charge and come to find it it's a widespread problem. Why did he lie to my face like I made the charge when he probably got the same call like a thousand times that day?

They won't even admit there is a big problem here.

I recently made a purchase at Walmart in the amount of $122.56 now there’s another charge on hold for $122.56 for (store purchase GNS American Express) I did not authorize this charge.

Card was charged 9.99 GNS AMERICAN EXPRESS AS IN STORE PURCHASE. I didn't change anything. This has overdrawn my account.
