I used a service that I unwittingly subscribed and when I found repeated bills after I tried to terminate the service, I called the credit card company who was very familiar with this issue, gave me a refund, and blocked further payment. This is the easiest path to take.

I did not authorized the payment on my debt card and will report this to the bank.

Instant Checkmate is a background checking service, while a bit unethical it is a legitimate business. I called them at 866 490 5980 and unsubscribed. I just did this moments ago so I'm leery as to whether or not I was successful. I've read some complaints from others that said the company claimed to never have received their cancellation call. The company claims they are sending a confirmation email...we shall see.

Same thing happened to me. I recommend going through your bank or credit card company and put them on the case.

I did call the company to ask what this was for and they indicated it was a service to look up people's information and was charged monthly. I gave them my name and they could not find anything relating to my name (imagine that) so they asked me for my bank card number to do a search using that. Obviously I didn't give them any additional info besides my name. The "service rep" repeatedly indicated that the "subscription" could be charged by someone else. I told him I would just have my bank deal with the fraud. Be careful not to give this company your credit card number to "search" their system for information or to cancel subscription.

We closed this account down and our credit card company issued a new card with a new account number. I went online to view charges on the new card and there was a new charge from CHKMATE! ...Holy Hell. Looks like we are forced to take legal action against this company...total thieves.

This is a background check service that will automatically deduct $22.95 from credit card but from there webpage I never created an account which means that a third party service has the account information that is billed through checkmate at address http://www.instantcheckmate.com/
